Dr. Terence YUEN

Dr. Terence Yuen founded the Hong Kong Institute of Social Impact Analysts (HKI-SIA) in 2013 and serves as its Executive Director ever since. As a network member of Social Value International, HKI-SIA joins hands with like-minded social value organizations around the globe to advocate for changing the way our societies account for value, through the promotion of the Principles of Social Value and the adoption of the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology, to increase the likelihood that enterprises, investors and governments are contributing positively to sustainability and the SDGs. 

In 2022, Dr. Yuen was appointed Senior Consultant (Assurance) at Social Value International, and in this capacity, he joined an international project team of social value professionals to assist in the implementation of the UNDP SDG Impact Standards that aim to facilitate enterprises and investors to embed impact considerations into the decision-making and practices for strategy, management, transparency and governance. An assurance framework for the award of the SDG Impact Seal is currently being developed by the international project team along with the UNDP SDG Impact. Scheduled to be launched in 2024, the SDG Impact Seal will provide a market signal to distinguish organizations who are more likely to be operating sustainably and contributing positively to the SDGs.

As a certified public accountant and an accredited social value practitioner and SROI trainer, Dr. Yuen is a seasoned evaluation researcher with over two decades of practical experience. He works closely with the academic community to conduct research and training, and is currently appointed Research Coordinator at the Centre for Social Innovation Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Cultural Research and Development at Lingnan University. He is also an International Fellow of the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at the City University of New York. Dr. Yuen graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with a B.A. in Accountancy, and obtained a MPA and a Ph.D. in Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong.
