Conclusion

System-level changes to the mix and distribution of our health workforce, including building up and strengthening our primary
care workforce and leveraging allied health professionals, remain key strategies in relieving the local doctor shortage crisis.
Nonetheless, these changes will take time to enforce and take effect. Apart from waiting to realise the benefits of boosting
local medical training places, Hong Kong needs to enhance efforts in fully leveraging a non-locally trained doctor workforce
to increase its doctor supply in more immediate terms. It is only by taking bold steps that Hong Kong will be able to drastically
boost its supply of doctors and give its people a chance at receiving timely access to healthcare services.
