OHKF is compiling a UNESCO initiative report on rethinking education and reshaping humanity’s future
(20 June 2020, Hong Kong) Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) Head of Education and Youth Victor Kwok served as a panellist on the Futures of Education Forum for Industry 4.0 & Beyond held 20 June 2020.
The UNESCO HK Association Global Peace Centre (香港聯合國教科文組織協會和平中心) organised forum provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss how knowledge, education and learning in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area needs to be reimagined for an increasingly complex world.
Kwok shared his vision of digital inclusiveness and advocated for a more flexible and up-to-date education system which caters to diverse talents regardless of age and background. He highlighted the importance of our education system in equipping school graduates while upskilling or reskilling the workforce to face new technological challenges.

The OHKF Public Policy Institute is compiling a UNESCO initiative report on rethinking education and reshaping humanity’s future which will be submitted to the UNESCO International Commission by August 2020.
Moreover, Kwok and Researcher Woody Chan hosted a 2 June 2020 knowledge-sharing session with high-ranking US federal government officials including United States Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Mr Robert King and United States Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Colleges Ms Casey Sacks.
Kwok and Chan started the discussion with an overview of Hong Kong’s education system followed by preliminary findings from their ongoing research which builds upon the August 2019 OHKF Applied Education: A Holistic and Flexible Education System for the Digital Age report.
The report advocated for an education system which caters for diverse talents and prepares younger generation for upcoming technological challenges through a number of key recommendation including applied degrees. A second phase expands the focus from an applied-degree level to lifelong learning while industry can tapped for the transition into a more flexible education system for learners from all walks of life.
