Professor LAU Chi-pang, Chief Editor of the Hong Kong Chronicles Institute (HKCI), Professor LIU Shuyong, Deputy Chief Editor, and Professor Joseph TING Sun-pao, Convenor of Academic Review Committee, were recently appointed as the first honorary research fellows by the Chinese Institute of Hong Kong. This honour fully recognizes their outstanding contributions to the field of Hong Kong history research.

The Chinese Institute of Hong Kong stated that the three professors have long been dedicated to in-depth research on Hong Kong's history and culture and have achieved remarkable accomplishments in related academic fields. Their work has not only enhanced public understanding of Hong Kong's history but has also helped establish a correct view of Chinese history both within and outside academia.

Furthermore, the academic endeavours of the three professors have garnered widespread acclaim and earned the trust and support of the academic community. They have not only made significant achievements in academic research but have also contributed greatly to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Institute of Hong Kong. Following approval by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences upon recommendation by the Chinese Institute of Hong Kong, the three professors were specially granted this honour.
