Jockey Club Exploring Chinese Culture Ambassador Programme Chinese Cultural Funfair: Immersive Showcase of Chinese Craftsmanship Featuring Hands-on Workshops and Spectacular Performances

18 Aug 2026 (Tue)

[14 August 2026, Hong Kong] The Jockey Club Exploring Chinese Culture Ambassador Programme (“the Programme”)  — Chinese Cultural Funfair is being held at the Tai Kwun Parade Ground in Central from today until 17 August. Showcasing the fruitful achievements of the Programme's second year, the Funfair features an array of engaging interactive booths and vibrant traditional cultural performances, inviting the public to experience first-hand the charm and vitality of Chinese aesthetics. The Funfair is free and open to the public.

Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the three-year Programme was launched in 2024, organised by Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), and implemented by Academy of Chinese Studies (ACS), one of the OHKF’s  operational units. Through hands-on workshops and artwork displays, Outstanding Cultural Ambassadors share their learning achievements from the past year, exemplifying the younger generation's cultural confidence and commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

The Funfair showcases the Programme's achievements alongside a collection of outstanding artworks created by over 240 Outstanding Cultural Ambassadors. Throughout the event, ambassadors serve as docents,  introducing visitors to the Programme’s diverse activities and key highlights. A variety of traditional craftsmanship experience zones and interactive workshops are featured on-site, including Hanfu fashion shows, traditional fan-making, and Burr puzzle challenges (see Appendix). In collaboration with professional cultural institutions, the ambassadors also lead these hands-on activities, offering visitors engaging experiences.

Additionally, the organisers have invited partner cultural institutions to present a series of traditional artistic performances, including diabolo shows, puppet show, acrobatics, Chinese dance, and Hanfu fashion shows. All performances are free of charge and open to the public without prior registration (seating available on a first-come, first-served basis), making the Funfair an ideal for destination for families. Children can easily explore traditional Chinese crafts through an interactive "learning through play" experience, while gaining a deeper appreciation of the wisdom of traditional Chinese culture.

The Funfair attracted numerous citizens to participate.
Expatriates were spotted participating in the Little Burr Puzzle Workshop.
Chinese Lacquer Fan Workshop was a major draw for the public, with participants fully immersed in the experience.
The Funfair featured a Hanfu experience workshop, offering both adults and children the chance to transform into models.
