    Mr Sam Lam

    Mr. Sam Lam is currently the President of Hong Kong Chronicles Institute, Senior Consultant for planning and development at Our Hong Kong Foundation and a member of the Leading Group for Planning to Establish the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Branch of National Local Chronicles Museum. From 2015 to 2021, he served as a public affairs advisor (Hong Kong and International) to Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

    With more than 40 years of experience in publishing, media, public affairs and corporate communications, Mr. Lam co-founded Hong Kong Communication Group, CK Lo & S Lam Ltd, Strategic Financial Relations Ltd and Worldcom Group. He was a pioneer in having introduced the concept of corporate communications and public relations to the Mainland market in the early 1980s following the start of China’s reform and opening-up.

    Prior to joining the ranks of public relations, Mr. Lam was a journalist and founded several regional newspapers in Hong Kong throughout the 1980s. He joined the US-based public relations firm Burson Marsteller in 1985, and was instrumental in helping the firm form a corporate partnership with Xinhua News Agency the following year. He played a critical role in helping Xinhua establish China’s first PR company, China Global Public Relations, in Beijing. In 1993, Mr. Lam was appointed Chairman (Hong Kong & China) and Global Director of Burson Marsteller.

    Mr. Lam has participated in community service, such as serving on the committees of Business and Professionals Federation, Lifeline Express, and Hong Kong Baptist University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as the editorial committee of the first Hong Kong Macao Economic Yearbook prepared by the research institute under the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
