Vera Yuen is currently an Assistant Lecturer of the School of Econom-
ics and Finance at the University of Hong Kong. She obtained a master
degree in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford in 2012.
She is now a doctoral candidate in Politics and Public Administration at
the University of Hong Kong. Her current research interests are welfare
state, social welfare, housing policy and pension policy. Before joining ac-
ademia, Vera worked in a community think tank as the Chief Researcher,
independently handling research projects on housing, elderly, labor, and
broadcasting policies. She also had experience working in the banking
and investment industry. She has published numerous news commen-
taries on current affairs and policy issues since 2014.
