The Qiandao Lake, meaning thousand-island lake, in Hangzhou of Zhejiang is a well-known tourist spot. In 1959 when the government was building the Hydropower Station, the river had to be blocked to form reservoirs that retained, the water, submerging 2 ancient cities that were 1,800 years old, underwater. The local government decided to build in the former location of Shi Cheng in Chun’an County – the Wenyuan Lion City Resort. Reconstructing this underwater Lion City into an experience of intangible cultural heritage, allows this ancient city to be reborn into a new form.
