Jane Lee: Housing Landscape Turns Cautious with Hopes for Flexible Market and Policy Coordination

28 Apr 2025 (Mon)

Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) launched its latest annual housing landscape navigator report on 24 April. Besides conducting its exclusive housing supply forecast, it will steer the public through these challenges, putting them into perspective by providing factual and data-based analysis.

Dr Jane Lee, President of OHKF, said that in the next five years, the average annual completion of private and public housing will be sufficient to achieve the targets of the Long Term Housing Strategy, but all stages of the private housing development cycle are slowing down, it will be front-loaded in short-to-medium-term supply.

She pointed out that Hong Kong is facing with unfavorable factors such as high interest rates, high construction costs and unsold inventory, the housing market has grown more cautious. She hopes that Hong Kong society can grow through challenges, becoming more resilient and proactive, move toward a future of higher-quality urban living.
