About

Hong Kong’s role as an international city used to mean westernisation. With China’s rising geo-economic influence and deepening ties with the 140-plus Belt and Road countries and the global south, Hong Kong should reposition itself from western-led internationalism to true globalism. Hong Kong’s “Super-connector” role now means connecting the whole world. With globalism receding, de-risking spreading, and supply chains disruption raging, Hong Kong has to rethink its unique role with a new mindset amidst the changing world order and growing competition. This Forum deliberates Hong Kong’s new role as a world city under mounting geopolitical tension.
