Dr Bunny CHAN

Dr. Chan Chung Bun, Bunny began his business career in the 1980s. In 1992, he founded Prospectful Holdings Limited and has served as Chairman ever since. Since the 1990s, Dr. Chan has been actively involved in community service, including District Committees and youth services. In 2000, he was first appointed as a member of the Kwun Tong District Council. He became an elected member in 2011 and was successfully re-elected in 2015. From 2004 to 2019, he served as Chairman of the Kwun Tong District Council, promoting district development.

In youth affairs, Dr. Chan was appointed as a member of the Commission on Youth in 2004 and served as Chairman from 2009 to 2015. In 2010, he was appointed as member of the Steering Committee of the Community Care Fund. From 2013 to 2018, he served as Vice-chairperson of the Community Care Fund Task Force under the Commission on Poverty. Since 2015, Dr. Chan has been a member of the Council for Sustainable Development.

In the fields of education and professional service, Dr. Chan was a member of the Council of the Open University of Hong Kong from 2006 to 2012, and has been a member of its Court since 2012. He has also served on the Financial Reporting Council, the Social Welfare Advisory Committee, the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee, and the Hospital Governing Committee of the United Christian Hospital.

In youth development, with the mission of encouraging youths to aspire, achieve, and strive, Dr. Chan founded the Hong Kong Association of Youth Development in 2007. He currently serves as President of the Association. In 2015, he also founded the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association and serves as Chairman, dedicated to enhancing youth’s attributes of self-enhancement, self-discipline, self-confidence, sense of responsibility, leadership and volunteerism.

In 2002, Dr. Chan was appointed as Justice of the Peace. In 2004, he was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star medal, followed by the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2009, the Fold Bauhinia Star in 2014, and the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2021. In 2013, he was conferred the Doctor of Business Administration, honoris causa, by the Open University of Hong Kong. In that year, Dr. Chan was also elected as a member of the Hong Kong delegation to the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, a position he continues to hold.
