Francis Ngai is the Founder and CEO of Social Ventures Hong Kong (SVhk). Since 2007, he has dedicated himself to impact design for the future urban city, innovating hundreds of social innovation projects. Notable ventures include Hong Kong’s first venture philanthropy fund and acclaimed social enterprises such as “Green Monday”, “BottLess”, “RunOurCity”, “Playtao Education”, “LightBe” affordable housing, “HATCH” co-working factory, “COMM,ON” community collective, “Institute of Community Making” and the impact consultancy “COSMOS”.
A champion of cross-sector partnerships, Francis leads his teal in designing tailor-made impact solutions for major private, public and philanthropic institutions – including the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Urban Renewal Authority, Swire Trust, Cathay Pacific, Standard Chartered Bank, The Hong Kong Management Association, and the Energising Kowloon East Office – pioneering new co-creation prototypes for the future. In 2026, he spearheaded SVhk’s “NewUrban” future city vision to foster inter-city impact collectives and a new platform for talent cultivation.
Beyond SVhk, Francis actively serves of various advisory boards and committees, including AVPN, youth empowerment initiative MELO, the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Summit, and the HKSAR Government’s Advisory Committee on Built Heritage Conservation as well as Social Welfare Advisory Committee. His contributions earned him Honorary Fellowships from City University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong. He was also named one of the Hong Kong’s "Ten Outstanding Young Persons” and a "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum. An avid runner, Francis has completed a 250 km Gobi Desert ultra-marathon, the North Pole Marathon, and conquered the 633 km Camino Portugués in 13 days.
