Mr. Hoi-Wai CHUA

    Mr. Chua Hoi Wai is the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), which represents close to 480 non-governmental social services organisations. The HKCSS aims at building a socially sustainable society through enhancing social services and policies development and promoting cross-sectoral collaboration.
     
    Mr. Chua has participated in a number of advisory or statutory bodies of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.  He is currently a member of the Land and Development Advisory committee, the Elderly Commission, and the Advisory Committee on Mental Health. Mr. Chua is also the Vice-Chairman of the Community Care Fund Task Force under the Commission on Poverty.

    Mr. Chua is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong in Mechanical Engineering. He studied Master of Social Work in University of Illinois at Chicago and is now a social worker by profession. He was the President of the Hong Kong Social Workers Association (2004 – 2008), and also a Founding Director of Dialogue-in-the-Dark Hong Kong. He set up the HKCSS – HSBC Social Enterprise Business Centre in 2008 to provide capacity building, joint marketing and an exchange platform for local social enterprises.
