From the recently kicked-off 2026 FIFA World Cup fully utilizing existing venues to reduce carbon emissions, to the Paris Olympic Games halving emissions compared to its previous edition, and the 15th National Games successfully achieving carbon neutrality, the trend is clear. However, Hong Kong primarily focuses on economic benefits when promoting mega events. How can we transform “Green Mega Events” into Hong Kong’s unique competitive advantage to attract more top tier international events to the city?
